Dunno whether it's reimbursable, but I looked into the case against Larry Craig at the time. The paper rightly calls it a 'sting'. The police ran this as a regular thing: a handsome young policeman spent hours in a toilet stall looking tempting; then travelers were arrested and taken to a special room where the police did a shakedown scam, giving them the choice of signing a gullty plea and paying a fine -- or missing their plane and being publicly tried.

No one accused Craig of actually doing anything lewd; just some alleged 'signals' such as tapping his feet and picking up a scrap of paper. No video, no evidence that he actually even did those 'signals'.

Imo it may have been Craig's karma for his persecution of gays, but ....

I always thought the whole thing was ridiculous. Not that I have the least scrap of respect or support for the GOP party line on sexual minorities or reproductive freedom, but even closeted self-hating conservative gays should be free to pursue their sexuality. But (a) the irony and (b) the apparent silliness of the defense are both pretty heavy-handed in an amazing way.
