White Terrorist Plot to Assassinate the ‘Commander in Chief’ — Republicans aren’t responsible for having crazed assassins among them– that would be guilt by association. But they are responsible for promoting irrationality by using fear, demonization, taboos, innuendo and coded race discourse. It is reasoned argument that makes for democracy. Karl Rove and Rupert Murdoch and Koch brothers’ rhetorical tactics release chickens that eventually will come to roost. Remember, kids, according to Republicans, there are no white terrorists. Only "Real Americans" pursuing their legitimate Second Amendment remedies. Welcome to conservative America. (And no, that's not me being snarky. Go back to the GOP and media reaction to the DHS report on domestic terrorism a couple of years ago.)

This is on a par with the McCain campaign calling Obama an elitist, or the Bush campaign calling Kerry a coward. (Not to mention the classic Rovian tactic of attacking your enemy at your own point of weakness to deflect the story.)
