[events|cancer] In which I am speaking at Portland's inaugural Nerd Nite
On Tuesday, March 26th, I'll be part of Portland's inaugural Nerd Nite. Three short talks by people with knowledge and experience in different aspects of life and science. 7 pm at the Mission Theater in NW Portland.
Here's the description of my talk:
If you're in or around the Portland area that day, come on by and listen in! There's beer and everything.
- Who Turns You On? with L. Kris Gowen, PhD
- Predicting the FUTURE! with Anders Liljeholm
- Cancer, Baby, Won’t You Hurry Up My Chimney Tonight? with Jay Lake
Here's the description of my talk:
Fantasy and science fiction writer Jay Lake has been living with Stage IV metastatic colon cancer for five years and is considered incurable. He talks about the diagnostic process, the experience of life with the disease, and most importantly (to science geeks), the perils and payoffs of being one of the leading edge patients for whole genome sequencing as a diagnostic tool.
If you're in or around the Portland area that day, come on by and listen in! There's beer and everything.
