I spent most of yesterday being quite ill. My lower GI continues to have very serious issues, to the point where we had to draw out the really heavy medications, the ones whose side effects can bother me for weeks after. Suffice to say I would have been very poorly advised to leave our hotel room through most of the day.

[info]the_child went shopping with [info]danjite and [info]khaybee, then they spent the afternoon scrapbooking. By evening, my GI was sufficiently corked up to consider going out, so we went ahead with our previously scheduled visit to Tamaki Maori Village. Which was pretty darned interesting.

Today, assuming I continue to avoid further violent lower GI disruptions, we're heading for some of the geothermal sites here.

Sorry you're having those difficulties. Hope they abate and stay abated!

Hoping the GI stops its fussiness soon so you can return to more fun adventures abroad. ox

(1) don't miss the Boiling Pool (it is QUITE LITERALLY boiling and has been for a long time - Maori passing by used to pop the fish they had just caught into the boiling pool for a few minutes and voila - instant dinner... (2) don't step off the paths (the earth's "crust" is literally just that here - very thin. And underneath are, you know, BOILING POOLS). (3) pack noseplugs :)

It is excellent to read these reports, and I hope you made it to the geothermal sites, because those are fascinating to hear about.
