Yesterday afternoon, Lisa Costello and I went out to McMenamin's Edgefield. Located at the old Multnomah county poor farm, the place is basically an 80-acre art project, featuring architectural preservation, glass blowing, ceramics, sculpture, wild gardens, vineyards, a winery, a distillery, a hotel, a spa, about a dozen bars and almost as many restaurants ranging from casual snacks to fine dining. It was amazing. We will be going back, probably a lot.

A friend is coming to town this afternoon for a few day's visit. We all have a fajita party tomorrow afternoon on the porch of AH and [info]tillyjane (a/k/a my mom). And it's a cool, rainy Oregon autumn.

I'm down with all this.

What are you doing this weekend?

Yeah, I quite like McM's Edgefield. Also has decent pinball, and often free music at one or more of the venues. One of the nice things about staying there is having access to the soaking pool (warm, outdoor, open 8am-11pm) at Ruby's Spa.

I am off to my parent's 50th anniversary party.

It will be held down at the cottage and most of the family will be in attendance, barring the niece teaching English in Korea and another other studying opera in Indiana.

My friend Lin and I are going to Brownville, NE tomorrow for their big autumn flea market. Going to see a very long-time, dear friend who runs a bookstore there, also. Haven't seen him for ages. Weather is supposed to continue perfect, too! (We *might* stop in Nebraska City to pick up apples and apple products; this is coming into their big orchard season.) mmmm cider!

We went to a local boardgame convention which happens a couple times a year here. For some reason, this time it's taking place in the corridors of an upscale movie theater! Sort of surreal, but it seems to work OK, and it's close to our home, so it was cool to walk to it in 10 minutes.

We played in a tournament of the clever little card game Love Letter (only 6 people competed) and I won, so I got a copy of Ingenious as a prize, woot! :)

Oo, I love the salt water soaking pool there. Except I end up spending way too much money on the delicious screwdrivers they make at the poolside bar... fresh-squeezed oranges...drool...

I'm laying low this weekend but, as it turns out, my company is having a shindig at the Edgefield toward the end of October so I'm looking forward to seeing it and comparing notes!
