Regarding the cancer article -- I found the idea of cancer cell behavior as an atavistic response, where the cells behave in a way that makes survival sense for cells that are not part of a larger complex organism, to be fairly plausible. However, the conclusion that it is somehow caused by our modern "unnatural lifestyle" struck me as the writer rehashing a favorite pre-existing narrative, and not convincing at all -- especially after he has already mentioned that dinosaurs had tumors.

(But naked mole rats do not! Please enjoy a video of the ones at the Pacific Science Center using a little pumpkin to make their escape. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7aOire0-P4)
