Middle aged crankiness

I walk to the post office every day. For the last couple of days some idiot has parked a car thusly:

    | |    |
    | |    |
____| |    |
    ***    |
____***    |
    | |    |
    | |    |

So that their vehicle is exactly blocking the sidewalk, and I have to step into the rain-filled gutter to get around it. Mind you, the driveway where the car is parked is empty ahead of the car (all they had to do was pull in), and the street parking is empty, too. In other words, of the six or eight empty parking slots on the block face, and the empty driveway to pull into, the driver chose to stop across the sidewalk.

I hate having to step in the rain-soaked gutter. For me, that's an inconvenience, but if I were using a wheelchair or a cane, it would be a lot more annoying -- I would have to proceed up the right of the way for the entire block to get around the moron. In the spirit of "hey, you kids, get off my lawn!" I called the city parking enforcement office. Not my favorite people, see here for the long-ago saga of my last parking ticket (it's a beautiful rant, if I do say so myself).

So, fah. I guess I'm officially a middle aged crank now.
